Installation Technician
At Hernandez Heating and Cooling, Installation Technicians complete HVAC installations without guidance or assistance in both residential and commercial job sites.
We are looking for technicians with at least 5 years of experience in the installation and startup of residential and commercial HVAC equipment, and that demonstrate strong customer service skills and present yourself professionally, exhibit a good work ethic, and are organized and efficient while taking pride in your work. Sales experience is a plus.
In addition to basic requirements, Installation Technicians should have experience and understanding of the following:
- Basic refrigeration cycle to include identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for installation, startup and to troubleshoot.
- Basic heating cycle to include identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for installation, startup and to troubleshoot.
- Understands the theory of combustion and how it relates to combustible fuels such as gas and oil.
- Understands the theory of hydronics and how it relates to boiler systems.
- You must be able to proficiently perform the following tasks: Soldering, Brazing, Basic heat load calculations, Basic heat loss calculations, Refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging.
- Basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits.
- Ability to read basic wiring diagrams.
- Understanding of Ohms Law.
- Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values.
- Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
- The process of treating air so as to simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, and distribution.
- Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
- Our Technicians stay up to date on HVAC technologies, tools, and techniques.
- Have the ability to use computer technology for documenting and invoicing jobs.
- Travel to customer sites to provide on-the-Job training and quality control when needed and assist other technicians, in-person or by phone, as needed.
